In the Bag: Cormac shares six dancefloor killers

Cormac is a DJ, producer and label owner. An electronic music obsessive since the late 90s, his pathway as a DJ started out when he was growing up in Northern Ireland, collecting records he’d found in and around Belfast. By the early 2000s he’d moved to London, where he cut his teeth on the local party scene at nights like Trash and Bugged Out! He then formed a tight relationship with us as part of WetYourSelf!, the much-loved label and party he curated and played at every Sunday right here in Farringdon. These days, though, he’s more of a regular fixture in Berlin, where he’s frequently found playing the coveted Sunday night closing slot at Panorama Bar. In these marathon sessions he’ll typically look to pull the audience into his world via a wide pool of house and techno, but, as he shows on his In the Bag picks for us, he’s not afraid to drop a curveball like Missy Elliott on the right occasion. He gives us more of an insight into the kind of stuff he's been playing this year on his full list, put together ahead of his return to the disco for Love Child’s 1st Birthday next weekend.

Webboes – Under The Wear (Hammer Edit) [Not On Label]

A fellow northern Irelander released this back in July as a free edit, showing that his talents also extend into a love of Italo. I can’t stop playing it.

Dar Disku – Ya Mahmud (Dar Disku Edit) [Dar Disku]

Such a feel-good record.

Superdrama – Drama Theme (In Flagranti Remix) [Super Drama]

Superdrama are up to great things in the studio. I’ve played a few promos this year that they sent over. This In Flagranti remix is a gorgeous nod to electroclash of 2004.

Paulor – Spaceship (Vitalic Remix) [Life And Death]

Killed it every set. Still excited to mix it and hear those spangled stabs come in the mix.

Lewski – Desacorde [Céad]

This killer was released on Or:la’s new label, Céad. For me this is somehow a perfect blend of roll and depth. It works well as a transition when getting a bit harder sound wise.

Throw It Back – Missy Elliott [The Goldmind, Inc.]

There’s been a Missy Elliott shaped hole in the music universe for some time and I for one am very happy with her return. I recently opened one of my sets at Panorama Bar with this and it felt like a golden moment. Cormac plays Love Child's 1st Birthday on Sunday 3rd November. Tickets are available here.
