Feed Your Stereo: Deft - Space Hardware Mix

In a world of breakthrough producers, Croydon native Deft stands out thanks to his command of styles. It's become a definite cliche to note that producers blessed with the influence of the internet now have wildly different and far reaching pools of sound to draw from, but it's the way Deft wraps up his genre approaches in his pristine production that makes his music stand out a little bit more than the rest. Take his recent EP for Space Hardware, which features 'Lets Hook Up (Asthma)', a blistering hip hop collaboration with Sa Ra vocalist, Om'mas Keith on the A side, and then two slices of more conventional dancefloor material in 'Lucid/Overline' and 'Loqux & Past' on the flip; it's a rounded example of the kinds of music he's capable of channeling and mastering. Playing in Room Three at the Sneaker Social Club takeover on 1st March alongside Neil Landstrumm, Tessela, Bareskin and Cedric Maison, Deft made this mix to help draw attention to his EP and by drawing upon the same menagerie of styles - rolling through the menace of Instra:mental's 'Let's Talk' into the clean hip hop lurch of Bambooman's 'Skip' and on into a glut of his own productions - he's certainly managed to distill the same osmosis of styles.
