Mantra
Staple London-based drum and bass party Rupture reflects its co-founder and resident DJ Manta’s energy and ethos perfectly. The party has weathered changes in the scene few others have survived, having built a dedicated following through its fierce support of gritty 90s jungle and contemporary drum & bass, becoming one of the best places in the city to let loose to 170BPM sounds. The Rupture party is revered for forward-thinking line-ups, putting jungle legends next to contemporary up-and-comers, and Mantra has undoubtedly been intrinsic in its evolvement.
Mantra herself has become a driving force for dnb in the city too, not least through her own hard-hitting and memorable DJ sets. The dedicated vinyl purist also helms Rupture’s label to release records produced by her and other close scene affiliates. That's a lot by anyone’s measure, and to top it all off, she also has a smaller night called Spirit Level and through her project EQ50, she’s helping to bridge the gap between genders in dnb. We’re happy to say she’s continuing her residency with us. You’ll find her at a FABRICLIVE night soon.
