Two absolute legends in the UK scene have dropped a brand new split-single of original music via fabric Originals. I. JORDAN's 'M1, M3' is a glittering homage to Manchester nightlife and SHERELLE's 'GETOUTOFMYHEAD' is a thundering bass-propelled pumper. Houndstooth
As well as the new single 'Life Man' from JFDR's forthcoming album Museum coming out on 29th March, ‘Fawn/Brute’ by Katie Gately is set for release on Friday 31st March. Following the lead single “The Orchid," “Life Man” soars like the spring breeze we've all been waiting for. Originally starting off as a moodier iteration, JFDR extracted the track’s core groove, seeping newfound energy into the song. The track takes us through soft, intricate percussion, to an electrifying chorus, all grounded by JFDR’s half-whispered speculations.
Meanwhile, Katie's stunning album has had numerous stellar reviews, including this one from The Quietus:
"Balancing between light and darkness, Gately doesn’t shy away from anxious feelings" writes Irina Shtreis. "Most of the eleven songs here start with sinister, skidding basslines. On the other hand, each has a depth and emotional complexity that follow acknowledgements of one’s responsibility and feelings to the person who is about to enter the unstable world. A few tracks unfold anxiety triggered by lack of security. ‘Meat’ and ‘Scale’ reflect on the final worrying months of being pregnant. The former starts as a ritual song where tension gradually builds up with layers of synths, vocals and witchy whispering mimicking murmurs of a conversation between members of a hospital staff. The mechanical beats and theremin-esque spooky sounds at the end of the song suggest a matter of life and death. Gately is well-versed in creating suspense and enveloping an intense emotional state into unrestrained electronica. A palimpsest of sounds, ‘Chaw’ starts with a mellow Swan Lake-like intro, sewn into an overwhelming cyberpunk techno."
Chaos In The CBD: Unearthed house gems
"These are the records that we’ve played for years. For us, they all mean something." Chaos In The CBD sat down with Juno Daily to discuss their 'fabric presents' compilation forthcoming this Friday 31st March and their club night curation at fabric this Saturday. Read the full interview here.
Ahead of the full compilation release on 31st March, house music duo Chaos In The CBD present two single releases to get you in the mood: ‘Into You’ (Johnathan Morning Mix) is a euphoric classic from J.D. Hall, arriving this month to a warm response. First out on Sunfire Records in 2005, this is the first time a digital version has been available. Previously only out on vinyl, and with a £88 price on Discogs, this is a sought-after tune. Soulful, deep, blissful, and incredibly rich; ‘In You’ features on the 2xLP, out on 31st March, which is the main release day.
Meanwhile, out on digital formats today (22nd March), is 'Raunchy After Dark’ by Sound Clash Republic. First released on Junk Rock Records, the UK label started by the track’s producer Fabio Borzacco aka Fabio Paras, ‘Raunchy After Dark’ is an early progressive house tune from 1992, when Fabio was releasing as Sound Clash Republic. Now hand-picked for the forthcoming ‘fabric presents Chaos In the CBD’ mix by the sibling duo, this is the first time the track will be available digitally, released only as 12” vinyl when it first came out. Thirty years on, the track’s catchy hook and composition get re-released on digital, ready to be heard by a new generation of electronic music fans.
