Houndstooth: JFDR's new album 'Museum' is out now
"An experimental, synth-folk triumph" (Paste Magazine), JFDR's new album soars like the spring breeze we've all been waiting for.
Today (28th April 2023) the new album from multi-talented songwriter and vocalist JFDR, otherwise known by real name Jófríður Ákadóttir, is out via our sister-label Houndstooth.
Museum soars like a much-awaited spring breeze as JFDR seeps newfound energy into songs on the album such as 'Life Man', 'Orchid', Sideways Moon' and Air Unfolding'. The final product is glorious project all grounded and tied-together by JFDR’s half-whispered speculations and haunting vocals.
"...a shuddering, monumental slice of baroque chamber pop" — Paste
The album is the result of an era of fresh creative drive for the leftfield artist. Scattered with stories of love, loss, loneliness and an overall tone of introspection, Museum acts like a sonic archive to processing, remembering and either collating these recollections, or starting afresh. JFDR describes the work as “an album about clearing and healing; like breathing fresh strong air through your old self.”
Don't miss JFDR play St Matthias Church on 10th May and on 12th May at the Houndstooth stage The Great Escape Festival, as the label celebrates 10 years with label artists JFDR, Hinako Omori and Penelope Trappes all performing in the incredible surroundings of St Mary’s Church in Brighton.
