When it comes to the studio output of Cornwall born, Rephlex associate, Luke Vibert, the results are varied with Vibert mastering pretty much every genre going, be it funked out disco as Kerrier District, tear out jungle as Amen Andrews or even trip hop as Wagon Christ. By his fans, he’s widely regarded as a genre-polymath and something of a demi-god. Put him on the (Traktor) decks and the same can be said for the far ranging navigation of beats he lays down and this set, recorded for the Discogs mix series, complete with smoke and lasers in store at Hackney Wick’s Vinyl Pimp record store, is a real cross-section of Vibert’s tendencies kicking out with Miami bass, crossing into acid house and techno and then of course landing in a jungle rinse out to complete the set. So we thought what better way to introduce you to the far reaching sonic vision of the man himself than to share this mix as a taster before he joins Hypercolour in Room Two on the last Saturday of this month to precede the release of his album for the Bristol based imprint.
