Audio: Celebrating 11 years of WetYourSelf!

It’s no easy thing keeping a party going strong for 11 years, but WetYourSelf! founders Jacob Husley and Peter Pixzel have clearly been successful in doing just that. Since their first Sunday night gathering back in 2007, WYS! have maintained an edge by focussing on local talent, offering an alternative to the de rigueur of London’s clubbing landscape. In recent years, they’ve also been big supporters of Romania’s electronic music scene, inviting artists playing the type of minimal house you’d normally expect to hear at Club Guesthouse or Sunwaves. They’re keeping things Romanian for their forthcoming 11th birthday in Farringdon, where experimentalist trio Amorf will be making their UK debut with a special live performance in Room One. With their celebrations just around the corner, Jacob and Peter have shared two of their recent set recordings to give a rare insight into Sunday nights at the club. Speaking of their upcoming anniversary, they said: “It's crazy to think we’re celebrating 11 years of WYS! After 550 consecutive parties, we can confidently say we’re now Sunday night DJ veterans. Although it’s been a long time, it still feels as fresh and exciting as when we first started, because our music, the club and the Sunday crowd is constantly evolving and changing. We’re also just about to relaunch our record label. For the last year we’ve been collecting music from artists that have played with us, as well as our own. We’re excited to release these later on this year. The mixes we’ve recorded are live recordings from WYS!, and they feature many unreleased tracks. Our sound has changed a lot since we first started. Although there are tracks and artists that have stayed with us the whole time, we always try to stay forward thinking, looking for inspiration from artists who are pushing boundaries. That’s why we’re so happy to present a live performance from Amorf on our birthday. Cristi Cons and Vlad Caia have played for us many times, and the music they create alongside Mischa Blanos is one of a kind. Their live set is truly unique, and we can’t wait to host their UK debut.
