33:45: Saoirse and Shanti Celeste have found their groove

We catch up with Saoirse and Shanti Celeste at All My Friends in Hackney Wick ahead of their curated show.

Saoirse and Shanti Celeste have found their groove. Ahead of their curated show at fabric this Saturday (25/02) the pair took us to DIY space All My Friends, a suitably vibrant bar and record store in the hub of Hackney Wick.

AMF is the perfect place to catch up; the space is described as ‘A place for the friends we've met along the way, a place for all the friends we're yet to meet…’  As good friends on or off the decks, Saorise and Shanti are one of dance music’s favourite teams. But they’re by no means an isolated unit, with projects left-right-and-centre that encourage collectivity and creativity within the community.

The beloved duo – one hot off-the-back of a recent DJ MAG cover, the other fresh off her Hessle Audio debut – are familiar workmates and longtime collaborators. Here they spin us some spirited selections and let us in on their digging habits (and secrets). Saoirse, a familiar face at the club over the years, also reflects on her memories of fabric and how, at 11am, hours deep into a fabric Birthday party, was inspired to move to London.

The rest is perhaps history for Saorise who returns on Saturday after gracing the cover of DJ MAG and following suit from an electric night at Printworks celebrating her East London day queer-focused party, Body Movements Festival. Meanwhile, Shanti Celeste has made her mark through her own productions, unstoppable energy for performing, and elevating other artists with her Peach Discs label. She's also designed the very juicy artwork for their curated night here too.

To make new friends and celebrate old ones, seems to be the order of the day on Saturday too. Detroit electro legend DJ Stingray 313, this month's RA ‘Art Of DJing’ guest Aurora Halal, and London queer scene figureheads Shay Malt and Grace Sands are just some of the guests Saoirse and Shanti have invited down.
