10 Years of fabric Records - The Tracks

As part of our celebrations marking 10 years of the fabric record label, we teamed up with Time Out to run a competition to win the entire fabric and FABRICLIVE series on CD, plus 12 months fabricfirst membership. We were also invited to provide a mix to sit alongside the competition too, in our celebratory mood we thought "how could we refuse?" So I (I’m Leo from the label, hello!) dusted down the decks, and mixed a selection of tracks featured on our mixes over the last 10 years. This was the perfect opportunity to pay a personal tribute to the series I love and live every day. I wanted to represent mixes from throughout the 10-year history of the label, having followed it avidly since Craig Richards’ first CD, long before I started working at fabric. My background is in house & techno, which is evident in the tracklisting (though I love listening to all the different forms of electronic music we have chronicled over the years). I was keen to feature tracks from both the fabric and FABRICLIVE series, though in the interest of making a 70-minute mix that was both personal and coherent, I was unable to give every genre we have covered equal space... sorry! Nor was the mix supposed to be a ‘best of’ the series, just a selection of tracks that have touched me personally. I hope it makes people dig out their tins and rediscover their favourite mixes from the series – or gives people a taste of mixes they may have missed or overlooked. And I’d love to know which tracks people would have included in their own ‘10 Years Of fabric Records’ tribute! 01.
