Introducing: Synkro (& his Club Autonomic Mix)
You can read about the ‘cross pollination of club music’ everywhere; it’s nothing new. Over the last few years it’s become carbon fact that the lines between styles have blurred, fractured and merged, creating the freedom for music to exist in several conventional genre realms at once. Artists are whole heartedly imparting their signature styles across tempos, producing innovative results, working with no boundaries whether thats at a drum & bass speed, 140bpm or at a slo-mo house pace.
One artist who has worked hard to sharpen each aspect of his production is the Manchester based Synkro. First appearing as a name on the Autonomic podcasts he’s worked across directions making half step d&b, 2-step flecked dubstep and house, and his outlook and general hunger to create, has seen start his own co-run label, Mindest, and release records on a multitude of imprints, whether working solo, or alongside regular studio partner Indigo.
With a date with us here on Friday, appearing alongside Indigo as well as dBridge and Instra:mental in their Club Autonomic room, Synkro put together a mix for the occasion that showcases a certain string of his work. We’d whole heartedly recommended checking out some of the previous Autonomic Podcasts if you’d like to get a taste for his ethereal half time d&b but for now we’re more than content with this...

What have you been up to since you last played here?
I’ve been quite busy really… been in the studio constantly, working a lot with my good friend Indigo on a new side project from both of our solo and collaborative work. I’ve also been busy with a few remixes recently for artists such as John Beltran, Submotion Orchestra, Tokyo Prose, Don't Wait Animate, Indigo and my good friend Bay. Also there are a few collaborations with fellow Autonomic artists dBridge, ASC & Consequence and there’s been loads of bookings to thanks to me recently joining ESP, I’m especially looking forward to The Big Chill. Also, been working hard with Indigo to push our label Mindset Records; we’ve got a few nice releases lined up in the near future including artists such as Biome, Mode and new comers Eleven8 and Troy Gunner.
What else is going on for you release wise?
Again, there’s quite a lot at the moment. My next release is on Box Clever with my tunes ‘Tribe’ and ‘Here's Your,’ which’ll be followed by ‘Prologue’ b/w /Summer Blues’ on Blackout Music Limited. Then I’ve got some more experimental bits coming out on Berlin based techno labels Styrax and Millions Of Moments. And one that I have been looking forward to for a long time is my solo release for dBridge's Exit Records which will include my track's ‘The Way’ and ‘Acceptance.’
You're playing for Autonomic this Friday, how do you think your style fits with the sound they're pushing?
I have got so much respect for the Autonomic sound. My 170/85 bpm tunes have been included in the podcast's from Layer 5 onwards and Darren (dBridge) has picked up quite a few of my tunes from them for Exit. I am honored that Darren has supported my music since I started sending bits to him a good few years ago. It’s kind of just gone on from that. Like I say, I have been working on collaborations with fellow Autonomic producers recently and I really feel a strong connection to the whole ethos behind Autonomic. For me the influences sections of the podcast's are just as important as the mixed section and it has definitely changed the way I look at electronic music in general.
Can you introduce the mix for us…
Sure, the mix is a little preview of what my sound is about around the 130/135 bpm range. It includes forthcoming material from me and other artists I am supporting at the moment, some that are not as well known as others such as Stickman and Troy Gunner who I’m trying to push because their music should be recognised. I have always tried to support unsigned artists and the same goes for our label Mindset. For Indigo and myself it is always about the music, not the hype and there is quite a bit of forthcoming Mindset material on the mix so I hope everyone enjoys it…
