First Listen: Vatican Shadow - Contractor Corpses Hung Over The Euphrates River

Dominick Fernow has taken on the outskirts of electronic noise world from the underbelly up, releasing music on his own Hospital Productions label over a range of production guises via that archival format, the cassette. Some may question the quality of the format but the more affordable production cost enabled Farrow to put out an impressive volume of releases under his slew of different aliases that inlude Prurient, Christian Cosmos, Machinegun Warfare and his current focal point: Vatican Shadow. It’s arguably Fernow’s beat based brutality as Vatican Shadow that’s crossed into a wider area of appreciators. While the output of Prurient, at points, finds itself marrying with four four undertones, Vatican Shadow leads it’s sound with body moving beats set amongst politically charged messages and multi-layered sonics. With four albums already within the last 2 years alone, the latest full length offering Remember Your Black Day (which also features production from Silent Servant) due for release on 21st October, is actually Fernow’s first long player to be released on CD. Over this summer he’s also been touring a Vatican Shadow live show, the UK date of which we’re privileged to be holding here in Room Two this coming Saturday when Fernow will be joining Regis and Untold.
