This week the BBC announced a rejig of Radio 1’s broadcasting schedule. And whilst Judge Jules, Gilles Peterson and Fabio & Grooverider move on out to pastures new, two of dubstep’s most prominent stars, alongside Toddla T, solidfy their relationship with the station moving from their semi-regular In New DJs We Trust slot to a weekly show on Friday nights, 11pm-1am. Yep two of Croydon’s most famous sons, Skream & Benga, will be bringing their unique take on dubstep after Annie Mac and Pete Tong week in week out on BBC Radio 1. It’s an otherwise unheard of move from the station whose commitment to young listeners has also seen them add drum & bass vet Friction to their roster along with Charlie Sloth, who previously held on show on sister station 1Xtra.
